Solar panel installation on the backside of the museum roof began on February 20, 2016. The work was performed by SunWork, a non-profit solar company that uses trained volunteers. The museum board decided to use solar panels to help offset the rising cost of power used by the air conditioners, which are required to preserve the museum’s artifacts. The Sunnyvale City Council unanimously approved the project at its Jan. 5 meeting.
