Industrial Exhibits

Starting in the early 20th century, various industries were attracted to Sunnyvale.  Hendy Iron Works relocated here from San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake.  After WWII, aerospace companies like Lockheed and Ford Aerospace Division became major employers.  In the 1970’s, the design and manufacture of integrated circuits on silicon chips turned Sunnyvale into the center of Silicon Valley; nearby companies included Hewlett Packard, Intel and National Semiconductor.  The mid-1990’s saw the birth of the internet, resulting in the “dot com boom” which continues today with companies like Yahoo and Google with offices here.
