The October Speaker Night with a presentation of the reconstruction of the iconic Hangar One was a full success! Every chair was occupied, and our audience paid rapt attention to the fascinating presentation laying out the technical details of reskinning the hangar. Anthony LaMarca and Puneet Moonach from the construction team introduced the history of the structure and the engineering project of putting a new cover on the building. Audible gasps accompanied slides showing workers in safety harnesses, suspended from ropes, cladding the outside walls, and oooohhhhs and aaahhhs filled the room when images of the interior of the massive hangar appeared on the screen.
The presenters graciously answered the many questions from the audience, but some cannot be answered yet: it has not been decided how Hangar One will be used in the future. It is also not clear if it will be open to the public for visits at some point.
