Accepting Donations for Vintage and Yard Sale until September 17th
Sale Date: September 26, 2026, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
We will be grateful for your donations to the Vintage and Yard Sale! Acceptable items include vintage china and glass, linens, and jewelry, as well as regular household items, decorative/seasonal items, tools, toys and games. We can not accept furniture, clothes, books, artwork, and items in bad condition.
You may bring your donations on days the museum is open: every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from noon to 4 pm. In case you have several boxes or heavy items, please come to the front desk first and ask for help/a cart! Thank you so much for supporting our fundraiser which will supply much needed income for the operation of the museum!
Celebrating 70 Years of the SHS!

This year’s summer exhibition is featuring the timeline and evolution of the SHS over the past seventy years. The society was formed in 1956 with the express objective to save the old Bay View/Murphy homestead, which was demolished in 1961 to make way for Central Expressway, even though it had been declared an historical landmark just a year prior!
Photos and artifacts from many events and activities are on display: from the formation of the society in 1956 to the creation of the OHPIE (Orchard Heritage Park Interpretive Exhibit) pavilion in 2001, moving the Bianchi barn to the park (dedicated in 2003), the construction of the museum in 2008, and looking back on eighteen years of operating a successful museum.
Visitors will see photos of events and activities over the years, including the centennial celebration of 2012, the 10-year anniversary that was staged in year 11 because the demolition of the old maintenance building and construction of the new walkway had not yet been completed, in addition to Walk through Time, and Trails to Rails community events. Many rotating exhibitions of a great variety of themes were displayed through the years; the School Program was redesigned for the new museum, and events such as the Vintage and Yard Sales evolved as circumstances shifted.

Most Bay Area residents will be familiar with the iconic building you cannot miss when driving along Highway 101 through Mountain View – the hangar that was built for the USS Macon airship back in the 1930s. For many years, the structure sat without its outer skin, which had to be removed because it contained toxic materials. In a collaboration with Planetary Ventures (Google), NASA, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and the Navy, the hangar was reconstructed over many years of meticulous planning and execution and reopened in the spring of 2026.
Hear the fascinating story of how this all came about, what roadblocks had to be surpassed, and how the reconstruction was managed, based on sensitivity to sustainability. Presenter Anthony LaMarca is one of the collaborators on this project of bringing Hangar One back to its original glory – with the help of modern technology!
A native of San José, Anthony graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2004. For eleven years, his career as a professional civil engineer took him to projects across California where he contributed to major infrastructure projects, including Levi’s Stadium, Valley Medical Center, and Highway 85.
In 2025, Anthony joined CBRE (CB Richard Ellis – the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm) on the Google Account, managing construction projects and supporting long-term operational activities at Moffett Federal Airfield. He collaborated with a team of project managers to support a diverse portfolio of airfield infrastructure projects over an eight-year period. This included the landmark Hangar One Reskinning and Remediation. Anthony launched Bedrock Consulting in 2023, transitioning focus to operational management and overall compliance related to the Moffett Federal Airfield lease.
