We have Spring teas to plan for, and the Tea Team is looking for individuals to help with the organizing and execution of the ever-popular Teas. There are opportunities to take on very simple tasks that will nevertheless be of great help to the effort, as well as positions requiring more time and involvement to make the events a success.
Can you help us with one of the following tasks?
Laundry service: on each day of the Teas, we have a great pile of kitchen towels and napkins that need to be laundered and dried and returned to the museum.
Set-up apprentice: Jannet Botting, who is responsible for the elegant table settings, is looking for someone to “learn the trade” so that she will be able to retire from it. Set-up starts the week before the Teas, with the main effort happening on Thursday and Friday. On the Saturday of each Tea weekend, the tables need to be re-set for Sunday. After the last Tea in April and December, everything has to be taken down and stored.
Kitchen Manager: The Kitchen Manager leads the team of food preparation volunteers in the morning of each Tea, and leads the clean-up effort after the guests have left.
Volunteer Coordinator: This position can be handled mainly from home by email, as it involves finding helpers for all the different areas of the event, from bakers and home cooks to kitchen helpers and servers, as well as set-up and clean-up crews.
Thanks to Dixie Larsen, Alisha Zare, Tiffany Anderson, and the individual coordinators, all of the tasks needed for the Teas have been documented in written and visual form, and the system is still being improved upon. Previous coordinators will be available to walk you through the process.
