The museum was very fortunate to receive the donation of a magnificent hand-made tapestry, independently appraised at over $20,000! The tapestry is a Kaffe Fassett design, “Cabbages and Fruit”, in 7 mesh, a 5x7ft rug in 17 pieces made with Appleton wool embroidery thread, and backed with canvas fabric.
The artist, Doug Richardson, was a Sunnyvale resident, and passed away in 2010. He created many needlepoint pieces as well as oil paintings. Since he did not sell his artwork, he is not well known as an artist.
The piece was hung in the big meeting room of the museum by a group of volunteers on September 2, 2020.
